Osprey Raptor 14 Pack Review

Ok I am willing to admit that I sometimes I ride a road bike with a backpack.  Gasp! Every self-respecting roadie is dismissing me and working on my excommunication from the world of road biking. That is fine, I am not a roadie or a mountain biker I am guy who likes to ride bikes and I am fortunate enough to make my living doing it. As a tour guide I occassionaly need to carry more stuff than I can stuff in a jersey. Whether it be for guiding or day hikes I love the Osprey Raptor 14. It is well thought out and designed. Here is what I love about it.

1. The stow pocket on the hip strap, lets me keep my multi-tool handy.

2. The top pocket designed so you can put your cell-phone and sunglasses somewhere that they will not get scratched. Now all I need to do is learn to not talk while cycling and my phone and  my bike and my body will end up less banged up.

3. The mesh pockets inside are designed with bike tools in mind. I can stuff my CO2 inflator in the mesh pocket and it is easily accessible when I need it. it always important as a bike tour guide to have whatever you need at your finger tips.

4. The lid lock. A very simple plastic tab that allows you to easily attach your helmet to the pack, so you do not forget it when rushing out the door for a ride.

5. The resevoir something about the firm back side of the resevoir makes it much more comfartabe than the soft all around bladder.

If you are looking for packs that are well designed by people who use the packs biking, climbing, skiing and hiking Osprey Packs are a great choice.
